Laser cutting the finest metal filters

The laser cutting process is ideal for producing particularly fine metallic filters, microfilters, microsieves, stainless steel microsieves, or nozzle plates for atomizing liquids. CO2 laser systems can even be used to laser cut materials such as nonwoven or foam filter mats.

Accuracy in laser cutting of metallic filters

Using the appropriate cutting gases, the precise laser beam guidance, high laser power and a high cutting speed enable highly precise contour accuracies of ± 0.01 mm, exact, almost right-angled cut edges and clean cut surfaces. Depending on the material thickness, narrow kerfs of 0.03 mm are also possible.

Quality of our blanks

Laser cutting is characterized by excellent quality of the workpieces produced. The laser beam of laser cutting machines is focused on a diameter of 0.03 mm, which enables relatively narrow kerfs compared to other cutting processes. Edge quality and cut quality of the laser parts produced in this way are many times more accurate than comparable processes. Thus, we realize high dimensional accuracy, exact repeatability and contour accuracy of ± 0.01 mm during laser cutting.

Filter post-processing

Depending on the material, material thickness and laser process, laser processing results in residues on the cut surfaces of the filters, such as chemical reactions caused by contact between the laser beam and the material. While laser cutting of thin metals and metal foils produces very little, if any, burr. However, when processing thicker material, some burr formation is to be expected.

We can offer the following post-processing options:
